Australian Boulder opals are the second most valuable type of opal (following black opal).They typically displays bright and vibrant colors.

Boulder opals are easily distinguished by their layer of solid brown ironstone left on the back of the stone. This natural iron stone base of boulder opal gives added stability and adds to the depth of colour produced in the gems. This base gives the stone grounding properties activating the root chakra.

It is also called “Matrix Opal” because it forms within the ironstone matrix rock, filling in the cracks and crevices, which creates a unique and beautiful pattern.

These unique opals come in various shades of the boulder with intricate patterns that resemble landscapes or seascapes. They are believed to enhance creativity, imagination, and intuition while also improving communication skills.
